When: 2nd Tuesday of every month
Time: 8:30am to 11:30am
Location: Robert Crown Center
Address: 1701 Main St, Evanston, IL 60202
The SAM board decided to inform members of volunteer opportunities with nonsectarian organizations. Howard Sachs a SAM member has been volunteering with the Evanston Produce Mobile, which is run by Interfaith Action of Evanston since 2012. Volunteers come from many different faiths, but religion never comes into discussion. Most of the volunteers are regulars but also different groups come to help out such as Northwestern students, people from a company, and teenagers during the summer months. The work is not overly strenuous, and many of the volunteers are seniors. Howard Sachs is willing to help organize a group of men who would like to volunteer.
Distribution is once a month on the 2nd Tuesday, from about 8:30am to 11:30am. The truck comes from the Greater Chicago Food Depository to the Robert Crown Center in Evanston. The truck is unloaded and food is passed out to usually over 250 households.
